For the most part, the Seiya and Haruka pairing wasn’t very popular when our addiction began. We scavenged the Internet, every search engine, every archive, every out-of-the-way website we could get our mouse arrow on. There was nothing. Our only ray of hope was the fanfic by Kaifuu (Unexpected Love, read it in our archive!) It was the only fanfic. The rest of the world was dead to this couple.

We knew we had to change this, and pronto.

But before we’re forced to break out the water bucket and ease the flames from all of you Michi and 'Ruka and/or Seiya and Usa lovers, put away the torches for a moment while we attempt to explain this insanity. First, we have Seiya Koa, a by-stander, simply watching while Usagi blazes the trail with her grace (yes, that was sarcasm) and tears. She's cute and perky and a little annoying, but we can deal since she’s the main character. But just because you’re the center of the story doesn’t mean you should attract every person you run into. This being said, the moment she and Seiya meet, there’s attraction. And sure, this is great and all, but we can’t help but wonder why we have this odd feeling… it seems like we’re missing something important…

Oh, yeah. Now we remember.

Do you recall Mamoru? That’s right. Besides the fact that he’s saved Usagi’s life more times that we have fingers, besides the fact that’s he’s Chibiusa’s future father, and besides the fact that he’s Usagi’s destined husband, he’s still part of the story!

And then we have Haruka Tenou. With her cool, tomboyish style (clothes, hair, transportation, etc.), and her girlfriend, an elegant, beautiful woman who is- well, we won’t go there, lest we say things we might regret later. Put politely, it’s our (100% correct) opinion that Michiru is a somewhat useless and boring character.

It was as if Naoko Takeuchi had run out of ideas and threw Sailor Neptune together. Some strange colored hair, a flirtatious and snobby attitude, and so much talent that she could drown in it (if it weren’t for the fact that she controls water) and voila! It’s a perfect portrait of our favorite aqua sailor. This utter hatred isn’t personal- it’s the fact that she and Usagi are standing in between the greatest Sailor Moon couple ever! So what are we fans stuck with? Besides that ever-present fog of confusion (“I just don’t get it!”), we have a tomboy with a passion for blondes and singing, and a tomboy with a passion for -um- “aquas” and racing. What are we to do? Why, that's obvious. Get them together, of course!

We can imagine your looks of puzzlement. The questions are racing through the minds of the unbelievers. The hows and whys and what-were-you-thinkings of it all.

Seiya: Hard-working, dedicated, likes Usagi, a tomboy, WILL complete the mission, funny, kinda stuck up (but only a little) and likes playing jokes.

Haruka: Hard-working, dedicated, likes Usagi, a tomboy, WILL complete the mission, serious, talented, tough.

So, there's somewhat of an advantage. They are sort of alike, but the reason I see most often for their incompatibility is that perhaps too much alike. Besides that, let’s take a look at another problem:

They hate each other.

Or at least that’s what everyone says. We’ve read the manga, and really, their rivalry isn’t as serious as so many make it out to be. (Wouldn’t you be mad if you found your girlfriend being undressed by someone else?) We'd say that's a pretty big obstacle to take on, but- hey! They’re both headstrong, loyal, determined, etcetera, but it’s not so completely out-there weird. They’re perfect for each other if you’re willing to stretch your mind and make the connection. There’s a reason this site was named Unintentional Destiny- it’s unintentional. That’s the beauty of it! Perfectly plotted romances are boring and predictable. Take something conventional and make it magical! Make it exciting and new and incredible! Get excited about love. That’s the joy of these two.

Get typing! That’s what we fanfiction writers were born to do: take the average and make it extraordinary. Take the impossible and make it real. Begin the grueling and rewarding process of checking timelines, creating plots, considering the characterization, all for the mere pleasure it gives us to know that we’ve messed up the SM universe big time and making it as we think it should be.

So it’s time to start the Seiya and Haruka revolution- right this very minute!
